Final ‘green’ bin bags to be delivered to Northampton homes
Rules restricting 22,000 Northampton homes to two green bags of rubbish a week came into force in mid-September.
However, numerous households have still not received their new bags.
Northampton Borough Council said it was currently operating a bags ‘amnesty’ while it resolved the issue.
Councillor Mike Hallam, Northampton Borough Council cabinet member for the environment, said: “The change to green sacks was introduced last month as part of a move in Northampton to recycle more and send less to landfill.
“Delivering the new green sacks to households has been quite a job as it isn’t always possible to leave them if people are out.
“We have been monitoring the situation since the change came in and asking people to get in touch if they haven’t received their supply of the new green sacks.”
On collection days, many households in areas, including Semilong, have a mixture of black and green bags.
Councillor Hallam said: “We are still getting some calls and tweets from people telling us tthey haven’t got their supply.
“We are dealing with these requests as we get them and our advice to people is to continue to put out black sacks until they receive their new supply of green sacks.Description, A range of %} offering fragmentation resistance and protection against specific bullet threats.aramid fabric wholesalers
“We anticipate all households should have received their sacks by the end of this month.”
Reminder letters will be sent to households in November. Collections of only green sacks will only be enforced when the council is certain all households have received them.Order our personalized tote bags printed with your custom logo in time for your promotional event. “I wouldn’t like to say how I would cope if we still had nappies to dispose of or a cat litter tray.”
Jac Higgs added: “I think the green bags are a great way of encouraging people to recycle.
“We are a family of three plus one cat and we usually only have half a bag of rubbish and we recycle everything else.”
