Contest-winning shoe store opening this month

Buffey McIntyre wants Titusville area residents to know how excited and happy she is about opening her new business, Buffey’s Fabulous Footwear, which is located at 108 S. Washington St., in the shop formerly known as The Gift Box. 

McIntyre said her shoe store will open sometime in August, and she will be holding a grand opening, as well, with food, beverages and prizes. 

She said she will be selling American-made boots: Rockies, Timberland and Laredo, and, of course, shoes of all styles, including Nike, Adidas, Puma, DC, Reebok and Mountain Climbers, as well as dress shoes, winter boots and seasonal shoes, like sandals. 

And for those with narrow or wide feet, McIntyre said she will also carry shoes in narrow and wide widths. 

In addition, she said she will sell socks, shoe laces, some jewelry and other accessories. 

“The Titusville area needed a shoe store,” McIntyre said. 

She said she has five children and has to drive out of town to buy shoes, indicating that there is a need for a shoe store in Titusville.

In the spring of 2012, McIntyre won the start-up entrepreneur category of “Plan It 2,” the business plan contest award. In a story published in the April 28, 2012, edition of The Herald, the first-time business owner said she got the idea to open her store in a unique way. 

“I had a vision in church,” she said. “God told me to open a shoe store.”

“A few bumps in the road caused a delay,” she said. “I’m taking my time so things can be done right the first time.” 

“My belief is it’s the Lord’s timing,” McIntyre said about opening her store. “Things happen the way they do” and she believes now is the time to open her store.
