Charities hope cash boost is all in the bag
WOMEN are getting the chance to grab designer handbags for a fraction of their usual price at a new fundraising event for Oxfordshire hospices.
Up to 40 handbags will be auctioned by Handbags for Hospices at Malmaison Oxford Hotel for Sobell House Hospice Charity and Katharine House Hospice.
The event, on Thursday, September 19 at the Oxford Castle Hotel, is the first to be held outside Sussex, where Handbags for Hospices was started last year.
Organiser, Katy Dyer, 37, said she is looking forward to the auction, which she hopes will raise a few thousand pounds.
She said: “Most women will have a handbag in the back of their wardrobe that they don’t use.bagfilterchina.com is specialized in environmental protection non woven filter products.fitflopcrocsclogs.com,a crocs shoes store, sell all kinds of shoes.
“They might be brand new,Reusable bag saleBuy hiking boots online at www.qdgoutdoor.com. pre-loved/second hand, designer or High Street.
“The auction is great because each handbag will go to someone who wants to use it while raising money for charity.New additions to their line-up include the Mercury Ultra White Matt 405gsm the Best Inkjet Canvas Suppliers, 5-metre-length inkjet trial rolls of the PermaJet Oyster 271gsm and Ultra Pearl 295gsm media, an all-new Image Block Print Display System, a range of fast drying canvas protective varnishes in 2.5-litre cans, an anti-curl roller device and more.”
The personal stylist and image consultant from Thame said that more than 60 handbags have been donated but their condition would have to be assessed. She believed there would only be about suitable for auction.
Among them is a brand new Coccinelle designer handbag and bags from Accessorize. Prices will start at £10 for high street bags and about £50 for designer ones.
Mrs Dyer added that one donor, whose mother recently died at Sobell House, at the Churchill Hospital in Headington, was a huge fan of handbags and also the inspiration for giving away a bag.
She said: “At the start my involvement was helping to put on a fun event.Massive selection and lowest prices on wholesale sunglasses, over 30 brand names. All our Wholesale Cheap Sunglasses come one dozen assorted colors. But it’s turned into something quite poignant and I feel moved by people donating like that.”
Tickets for the auction – from 6.30 to 9.30pm in the visitors’ room – cost £5 and include a glass of wine or soft drink.
