Yard Sale Raises Money for Bullied Girl's Family

The family of the Polk County girl who killed herself after being bullied is getting some help from an unexpected donor.

Thirteen-year-old Peyton Carter held a yard sale to raise money for Rebecca Sedwick’s family and bring more awareness about the effects of bullying. 

“I just ask people to please stop bullying because it hurts a lot of people. And I hear every day about people self-harming and everything else and I just want that to stop,” Carter said. 

Carter attends Crystal Lake Middle School where deputies said the relentless bullying first began for Sedwick before she took her life earlier this month. 

And while this 13-year-old said barely knew Sedwick, she can’t help but worry about her family.

That’s why Peyton and her family set up this yard sale. They sold everything from clothes, shoes and even lawn equipment.shoes for ladies from china suppliers. And none of the items had a price tag.

“She was having a hard time dealing with it and she keeps telling me she wishes she would have done more. And she feels like this is the more,” Carter’s mother Strecia said.
